This was taken early in the morning at Ding Darling in Florida. Spoonbills are a favorite because of their color in very soft light.

Sigma 70-300
Aperture Priority
Shutter 1/1000
Aperture f8
ISO 400
300mm
Some color correction and lighting in Photoshop Esentials

Nice tranquil scene portrayed by this photo, and an interesting set of poses by the three birds. The only thing I might have tried (if possible!!) would be to step to the left a bit to get a bit of separation between the 2 birds on the right.

Nice images of the spoonbills, but the composition really doesn't work for my taste, Richard. If you have enough detail, you might crop it down to the two birds on the right-that looks to me like a more interesting image. I like the reflections of the birds and the reeds. :toast:

It's sometimes nice to draw back and take an overview scene like this but I think this would work better if the 2 birds on the right were separated. It looks as though a vertical shot of a single bird with those lovely reflections might also make a nice image. Graham

I agree with the suggestions made so far on this shot Richard. I probably would have focused my efforts on the two birds on the right and tried to come up with a good comp for them.
