Moss Cascading

My 5 year old son recognized the beauty of this moss. I found it refreshingly challenging to frame a good composition. Shutter speed: 1/50, aperture: f/3.6, ISO 400.

All comments and criticism are appreciated...thanks for looking and any feedback!

Hi Stephanie, Welcome to NPN and Flora.

Give your son a camera.

Lots of beauty in this cascading moss. No idea what the diagonal on the right side is, but it's distracting.

Cheers,

Carol

Beautiful color palette and overall the image makes me think of a star field. I might consider a 90 degree CW rotation but regardless I'd probably clone out the stem? running from top to bottom near the viewer's right side. Aside from the stem? thing I like the image as posted.

I like the idea and couldn't agree more with the beauty of this plant. I would consider going back and shooting this again and having the leaves cover the entire frame. Very challenging because the plant is not perfectly flat, but I would try different angles, dof, and distances. Looks like you are using a macro lens?

I like this as presented (minus the vertical stem as mentioned by earlier posters) and also Jamie's idea of filling the frame with the moss.

I like the "star bursts" randomly in the frame.

Hi Stephanie :wavey: You are blessed with a son who loves the beauty of nature, the shot is well seen and crafted , except for that distracting stem on the RT.

Stephanie: Great subject. I agree with the others regarding the twig(?). The cloning work it would take to make it go away would be substantial. My suggestion in the future is to make it go away physically before you trip the shutter.>=))>

the moss is really nice and makes a good imaage, but maybe I would have moved that dry branch.

I agree with the others' comments, Stephanie. Love the "starbursts" of the moss and how uneven, or random, they appear. Too bad about the darn white stem- no harm in plucking those things out before taking the shot. I think your son make a very good photographer's assistant! What fun taking him along on your photo outings.
