I ran into Richard Ettlinger @ Jones Beach yesterday and the migration action was hot. Couldn't stay for long but got this Merlin which was being pursued by the Sharp-shined hawk in Richard's latest post.

This is nice Luke. Great wing extension and head turn at this angle. Light and sharpness look good. I have zero shots of the species, perched or in flight...

I don't know how you guys get these - great shot! My personal preference would be a tighter crop.

Nice image. Love the position of the bird. With him flying away you get to see the tail and detail on the upper and lower side of the wing. Then he gave you that great head turn. May have been a short stay, but it was a productive one.

Luke, a nice flight position with just enough head turn to make this work. Small nits are the near wing tip not being as sharp as I would like to see it, and a bit closer view would make this stronger. You don't mention how large a crop this is, but if the pixels are there, I would crop in further if this were mine. Overall, a nice shot.

Great flight shot Luke. The head turn and wing position are excellent, the fanned tail an added bonus. I echo KC's comments "I don't know how you guys get these". Nice work! :toast:
