Alone with Venus

I went out this evening to photograph the new crescent moon. I had a feeling I would not see it tonight and I was right. Instead I stood there for about an hour, alone with nothing more than Venus in the sky. Silent, breeze-less, and with a temperature such that you could not tell where you ended and where the air began. I have not had the good fortune of being in such a state in a long time. Just thought I would share this with you all.

I hope to see and photograph the moon tomorrow night, if anyone in the bay area would like to join me, let me know.

Canon D60 (yeah the ooold one), Tripod, f9, 2 sec, ISO 100, 18-200mm Tamron at 87mm.

Nice one Youssef, you caught very well the suspended atmosphere. I love the sea of clouds too.

Very nice, Youssef! The sea of clouds is amazing. My only suggestion is to clone out the tiny spot in th ULC.

The thumbnail doesn't do this one justice at all. The larger is clearly best. The tones are somber but just enough light to bring out the foreground and not ruin the mood. Don't clone out venus!

Youssef,
Nicely composed sunset shot. I like the way you've used the tree and higher clouds as anchors. Nicely done. Best Regards.

I did see the crescent moon last night, Youssef, and thought of you and wondered if you were out looking for it too. I did notice that the moon had moved from where I expected it to be. Don't know what's up with that. Maybe look around a little more next next time and you'll see it.

Just kidding, of course. I was out in an area and thought I was facing West, but the moon was distinctly to my left. So I guess I was facing more Northwest. Was just surprised to see off to my left, sort of southerly.

Pretty image of a sweet moment.

Tony,

As we move into the autumn and winter the moon will shift and appear in a more southernly direction. It will be its furthest south near the winter solstice and then start its northern route where in the spring, usually in April will set directly over the where the sun set. I did see the moon and captured it last night, but I will have to wait later tonight to post it.

Youssef,

You always seem to have that connection and timing with the heavens. A peaceful and calming capture.
