Ripples of Time

Southern Utah

All I have to say right now is that I am darn lucky to be able to post here on NPN. I had hoped that this post would be a fall color shot from my recent trip that brought me through Utah, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado. However, I got in a nasty accident while in Colorado toward the end of my trip and things have definitely changed since then. The good news is I walked away from the accident unharmed. You can read more about it and watch a YouTube video by following a thread on the NPN General Discussion forum: Jimmy G walks away from crash

Life goes on. Time doesn't stop. I am indeed lucky.

Love it Jimmy, this is very ethereal. And you are so right, time doesn't stop, and there's something to be learned from this by all of us. Be well, my friend!

Really nice image, Jimmy. The scale has me baffled, but I certainly like the colors.

Really beautiful and unique image, and I'm glad to hear you made it through the crash unharmed. The patterns on the water's surface are wonderful.

Holy smokes man. Glad to hear you made it out safe. Hope you got insurance on that rental  Still don't understand how your head didn't get crushed, you're pretty tall so there couldn't have been much room... Hope you got some beautiful images to balance out the horror of the crash. The one is above is really nice, the colors and glassy texture make for a nice abstract.

Glad you're ok, Jimmy!
Wild shot--the high sat works well here. I'd minimize the urhc as much as possible, even if you need to rotate things to do that. Nice!

Awesome Jimmy.

First off Im glad your ok and good to hear you were unharmed. Makes you think, really.
The reflection is pretty sweet and it has enough elements to engage the viewer. I too shot a bunch of fall reflections recently as they are addicting.

Thanks for sharing

Very cool Jimmy. Great eye seeing this. I love the oily look, and the colors are so fantastic. Sorry to hear about the accident. I had the same thing happen to me last winter on the way back from shooting in Wyoming. Very ,very glad you were unharmed.

Real nice image, Jimmy. I would agree with Stan and might consider a little off the top to minimize the urc. Works well as presented, too.

Wow Jimmy, this is stunning! I love how the orange reflections appear to be floating in space above the blue rocks. Just magical.

P.S. I am both glad and amazed that you walked away from that accident. I know how life altering such an accident can be, as I am still feeling the effect of my crash from a year ago. I wish you the best.

I was glad to see you posting again Jimmy. You went through quite an ordeal on that trip. It's great to have you back in once piece!

Regarding the shot, I really like the way the orange highlights take on a feather-like quality near the top of the photo. They look like wings, and the complimentary colors work very well.

Those ripples and reflected light give this an almost flame-like quality. I never would have seen this opportunity in a million years... well done!

I'm glad that you're OK, Jimmy. This is a beautiful water abstract.
The purplish blue water works well with the gold bands of color.
I'm wondering what your DOF was.

I don't think there could ever be a combination more consistently surprising and unlimited in visual magic than colorful light and moving water. This photo is a beautiful portrayal of that relationship. The square crop fits the subject very well but comes with its own shortcomings (at least in some people's opinions). I'm looking at the potential for something vertical (even if only 4x5 or 6x7). I also wonder if the image could maintain its vibrant character with an opening up of the inky blacks.

Some Hot Rod Classic car guy is going to lift your flames from this image and put on the side of his 32 roadster. Wild image Jimmy, and your right you are darn lucky. Just like I was when a semi tried to plant me in a cemetery literally by lane changing into me and hitting my left front with his driving wheels. I was in one of the old Honda Civic Hatchbacks. According to a witness the car was on the cemetery block wall with all 4 wheels. I bounced back into the street. Walked away only with mild whiplash.
