Cascades

This was shot at the lower end of Leura Cascades in the Blue Mountains NSW. A wonderfully wet day with loads of water flowing.

I particularly like the compositional flow of this, from the partially obscured upper section down through the frame. It has had some cloning to get rid of some messiness that I really should have cleaned up before taking the shot but otherwise has just had my basic workflow of levels curves luminosity masks etc.

I don't mind a bit of motion blur in plants in this type of shot but I'm not sure if its a bit too much in this one.

Your time and crit as always is appreciated.

Andrew,

Nice photo and the composition is nice, but unlike you, I find the partially blocked part of the cascade at the top a bit distracting. Otherwise very nice.

I like your composition here Andrew with the water moving from top to bottom and left to right in the frame. I'm not a big fan of the moving vegetation in waterfall scenes, but I don't find it overly distracting here. I do think the image would be stronger with more static vegetation though.

There's a lot going on here. My eye is drawn to the white water in the center, though the comp doesn't necessarily organize well around it. Cropping the white water at the bottom and the dangling branch at the top tightens things up a bit. Makes for a more squarish picture, but it does simplify things a bit.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Perhaps not having the branch obscuring the top section would have addressed both Youssef and Tony's issues with the composition in that it would have removed a distraction and simplified the flow.

Thanks again for your time :)
