Warming

This frog (EDIT : Pacific Tree Frog I think) was sitting on some rocks as the fog lifted at Moran State Park on Orcas Island, Washington. It was pretty inactive, so I assume it was trying to warm up, with not much sun out. I thought the setting was pretty unique - at least from what I'm used to for frogs.

The DOF is intentional, and I actually took some with less DOF, but I think I like this best.

Thanks for looking!

Well composed and good detail. The colors seem accurate.

I agree with Philip, nicely put together photo. Very attractive green with black stripe frog. :toast:

David:
A very nice capture. I like your choice of DOF keeping just the face in focus. Pose and placement of the frog are just perfect.

I like your choice of DOF. The colors look good as does his surroundings. I realize he was at an angle but I keep wanting to rotate hi to level out the line on his jaw.

David, I love the colors and comp on this...however, personally I would wish for a tiny bit more DOF. I don't need to see the whole body in focus, but would have maybe liked a stop or two more so the fingers and toes on the front feet were sharp. Nice work though!

Cool setting indeed David. I too vote for a bit more DOF and certainly not less, but as always there is a trade-off between detail on the subject and detail in the BG

Love the comp on this one, David. The way the frog is positioned on the diagonal is very good.

Good discussion on this one already, so I will just add the "ditto" that my main reaction is identical to what Andy said!
