This image provides a far more expansive view of the Monterrey Oak that I posted a couple of weeks ago. That tree has been haunting my dreams and I've yet to find it with perfect light. Some day ...

Here's an abstract that also came out of yesterday's shoot.

This was shot was an old 24-85mm lens that I have and rarely use. It was shot at 24mm, at f/8, -1EV with ISO 400. The conversion to B/W was done with NIK Silver EFEX and I used a slight vignette.

Thanks for taking the time to view and leave your comments and critiques.

Carol, I really like the twisted gnarly tree. What a ton of character it has, I can see why you are haunted by it. I am probably not the best one to comment here because I rarely/never like high key BG's I think your idea of having light and shadow playing along the branches could be really interesting.

Maybe moonlight and a long exposure.

Carol:
Very impressive pattern and texture. Would perhaps like a bit more contrast.

Shot at 24mm with 28-85mm lens??

Carol, Impressive work ! I like very much the texture of this image : the wide scale of greys gives really relief to the different branches against the flat sky. Congratulations.

Carol,

I think this is exceptional as posted. As a subjective thing, it's hard for me to resist contrast and darkness, so I might take this a little darker, if it were mine. Love the composition in it and the sinuousness in the main limbs. Striking and creative for my tastes. Superb conversion.

Excellent, Carol. Very nice comp and BW processing. The shapes are really outstanding. I also would like to see this darker and/or with more contrast just for comparison, but I don't know if it would improve this very nice image.

Hi Carol :wavey: Being a tree lover " er " hugger  I appreciate tree shots. especially trees with branches like this.! every tree is a marvel in structure and form. and this one is no exception. The B/W conversion works very well depicting its beauty

Again, a wonderful quality of being an old image about this. Intriguing subject and well presented.
