Mushy Puffin

Taken last June on Skomer Island in West Wales, UK.

Sometimes the Puffins are down behind some grass etc so that's a good time to practice taking some "mushy" shots, you see, you can teach an old dog new tricks

One question I have is would you clone some of the green mush over the lower white patches and do they distract?

Sony A350
Sigma 50-500 EX
1/640th sec
f8
ISO 100
500mm
Hand held
Just a slight crop off the right and a sliver off the top for composition.

This is fine Geoffrey - wonderful detail, I think the greenery adds another dimension.

cheers

Hi Geoffrey. The colorful bird contrasts nicely with the greenery and looks natural to me. I don't feel it necessary to clone over the white patch.

Excellent Geoffrey. Gorgeous detail and light. The one white patch showing through the green is a bit distracting-not the green, but the white. I don't think you can clone it, but you might tone it down just a trifle.

Very lovely, intimate portrait Geoffrey, great profile view. That one white spot doesn't detract me, I am drawn right to the puffin's face.

A very nice portrait Geoffrey. I like the fine detail and your composition. The white area on the neck isn't an issue for me.

killer perspective, even better detail. Nothing I'd change and a great example of what the "Bigma" can do.
