GE in Morning Spotlight

This weekend the morning tides were wrong and too windy for shore birds, so I decided to go to Gulf Islands NS in Ocean Springs, found this Great Egret at the boat launch, and with a less than desirable breakwater as surroundings, decided to shoot a few head-and shoulders portraits. Larger image included.

Thats a very fine portrait Bill, the lighting is very special. On the comp side of things, I'd like to see the egret just a little higher in the frame but no big deal.

Nice image. I like the golden light with soft detailing in the feathers contrasted with the sharp eye and beak.

That warm light sure worked out well here Bill. Nice background color for this bird too. Lovely portrait.

Studio lighting is hard to find out of doors! Wonderful portrait! Agree that a little higher in frame would be nice....still excellent! Sharon

Interesting contrasts in this photo, the sharp bill with the rounded curves of the body especially. Warm light on the bird is beautiful, and again contrasts nicely with the cool background color. Good comp choice.

Beautiful light Bill. Love the pose of the egret, the soft blue background, the gentle curves of the egret's shape combined with the straight edge of the bill. Also love the light in the bird's eye.

Beautiful lighting here Bill, I agree with Andy on the bird ideally being just a little higher in the frame. :toast:

Hi Bill,
I meant to comment on this one but forgot. I have to say this image is really special with the nice warm tones. The rich colors raises it to the next level, well done my friend.
