Lifting

This is an image from a foggy day in Moran State park on Orcas Island, part of the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington. It was a pretty foggy day until the later afternoon when it started to burn off. I liked the way the sun was lighting the forest through the fog here, and I tried to find a comp that showed some depth in the trees. This is actually a vertical pano from two horizontal shots.

Thanks for looking!

Nice fog. I like the spacing of the trees and that they fade into the bg. Is that a patch of sunlight in the lower center or moss?

It's a little of both Bruce...the ground foliage is a bit different there, and there is some sun there with a tree shadow to the right.

Nice shot David - love the fog and the mood it creates. Looks like a wonderful morning for a hike.

I just can't believe this picture got only 5 comments almost 24 hours after being posted. It looks like people here is getting tired of commenting?

However, this is just amazing I'd say, you composed it perfectly, the spacing between trees and the mist provide a lot of depth, and the soft colours and contrast give it a dreamy mood that I totally love.

Niced fog shot, David--i love scenes like this! Personally, i might crop a bit off the lhs (either one tree over, or maybe the big tree as a frame) to go for a more vertical pano format. :wavey:
