Granite Garden

This was taken on the second morning in Granite Park. After exploring every single lakeside and creek in the basin, I am pretty sure I found the last decent bloom of shooting star (or any flower for that matter) up there in late August. Fortunately, the granite spires could easily be seen from the patch.

Thank you for comments and suggestions!

Another killer from your trip! You have an unlimited supply of these or what?!

I love everything about this. Just spectacular.

Wow, what a killer FG - the color and detail is intense. Personally, I find the sky a little dark for my taste, but certainly not a deal killer. This is just outright gorgeous Cory!

Classic piece of work. A bit tight in comp all around for me, but the detail, those colors, and that freekin' light are top notch!

Cory, Great photograph! I know this spot well but I haven't been in there in so long. You got some better light then I did, I found later on in the morning. I hiked up from Homeymoon Lake in the dark. Those are shooting stars you have there in the foreground. You're making me miss the place! :toast:

Beautiful, Cory! The image is strong throughout. The second cluster
of Shooting Stars strengthens the middle ground. Great light and
wonderful color. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful image Cory. I really like the foreground flowers and the light on the background peaks. This has amazing sharpness from top to bottom.

Beautiful little flowers, Cory, and with such a nice mountain background. Late August is indeed pretty late for shooting stars! I find the sky and mountains a fair bit too dark for my taste (for a natural effect, the mountains and sky should be brighter than the foreground!).

Great find and composition. I also find the sky a little too dark, and the FG flowers a little too bright compared to the distant flowers and rocks, probably under the same lighting. Blending the exposure alittle more from near to far would still highlight the flowers, but keep them more in tune with the mid ground brightness. I must see this place some day. :toast:

What a shot! I love those rich pinks and greens set against the desolate looking background. I agree that the foreground is too bright in relation to the rocks.

Well that shot just grabbed me any won't let go!! Love the contrasting colors and light. The flow leads me through the image gracefully. Love it. If there is one thing that I don't care for, the sky seems a bit dark.

Terrific shot! I actually like the dark top, it adds contrast to the peaks, its gradual, and its appropriate for high altitude. But, IMO the fg/flowers need to be brought down in brightness--for the flowers to be glowing more than the alpenglow is just wrong

Very sweet capture Cory! I like the placement of the flowers (both foreground and mid). The three peaks are excellently framed as well. :toast:

I love this, but the luminosity of the flowers and foliage in the immediate foreground make this look artificial. Burn those down a bit and it's a masterpiece.

Your recent posts have been good, but this one pulls all the right strings for me Cory. Massively good. Fix the dark/light that has been noted, and this is off the charts.
