Campese tower twilight

PLEASE VIEW LARGER

A twilight view of the tower of Campese at Isola del Giglio, a small wild island of the Tuscan Archipelago. It was built at the end of XVII century as a watchtower and a fortress, it was used to alert the population of possible sea invaders (pirates, that is  ) and it was at that time armed with a dozen of cannons . At the present days it's been declassed to a tourist resort and residence... :frown:

Taken about 30 minutes after sunset, this is stitched from six vertical takes. Your C&C are as always highly appreciatd, thanks in advance for your time.

Awesome Paolo. A really cool perspective with lots of different elements that normally would be difficult to sandwhich into one frame. The natural and unnatural lighting belnd together beautifully.

Thanks Luke, I'm glad you like it. Yes, it was indeed a fortunate occurence, having the moon, some nice strips of clouds in the sky, and some decent sunset light all in the same place. Some heavy sea would have made a good ice on the cake but... ah well, I don't like cakes!

Looks great! Not sure I like the red fringing on the moon though...

Paolo,

Lovely image. I had the honor of just visiting your beautiful country... and the intensity of driving your roads. Some of the most beautiful skies I've ever see have been in Italy and this doesn't change my opinion. Well seen and processed.

my only minor nit is the moon, I agree with Daniel: not sure if I like the red fringing on the moon.

Very well seen, Paolo! The transition of the blue in the sky and the moon matching the lit window are my favourite elements here.

Thanks all for the great commentary on this one, fellows, I really appreciate that.
Mauro, exposure here was 20" f11 for each frame. Just enough to smooth the water witout blurring too much the clouds and moon.
