When I get to see my nephew (not often enough), he always wants to go on a hike in the woods with his favorite Uncle(only one!). This was taken last Easter before dinner(we were late!) From fishing to climbing trees to looking under rocks, he is every bit the Nature Boy his Uncle was, and I couldn't be happier! Sometimes he complains that I always take my camera with us, but my sister just told me he wants a camera of his own now!

Great theme Hank!

The wonderful world of exploring, Bruce. What a great shot. If he were any closer to that stump, he'd be on the other side of it.

What I like best about these images, is that every image tells a story and evokes memories.

Nice post,

Carol

He is lucky to have you as an influence - hiking, fishing, climbing, taken pictures - what else is there in life  Great image and keep on influencing!

Looks like he's wonderfully curious - how great that is! I smell a camera for his next birthday!

This is a divergence from "traditional" photojournalism and even portraiture Bruce. It's a "rule" written somewhere on the bottom of a park bench that we have to show faces. But this is all the more powerful for showing only the back of his head!!! It strongly portrays his sense of curiosity, and his rapt attention really makes the viewer wonder just what he sees.

One outdoor uncle to another, great job both as a photographer and influence. And yeah.... Put a camera on the gift list. We gave our granddaughter a basic pocket camera for Christmas, and now her first request on a visit is to go on a photo adventure. You simply will not believe the things kids find to photograph! Your influence on him will be returned many-fold in the influence his photo insights have on you.

Excellent! One of the few images we see that tells the story without adding text. You can certainly add more interesting details, as you have done, but this captivating image is the "hook" for this story.
