"Crashing Sea Cape Kiwanda"-
-not enough room for my fancy title

This is an image from last summer shot at sunrise on Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City Oregon. I seem to get the best light at sunrise, and liked the wave action in this particular frame. There was some interesting light reflecting on the surf that worked out a bit with some curves masks, and luminosity masks. Any comments I can get are very much appreciated. I know this is a pretty common comp, but I haven't seen too many sunrise versions around. Thanks for looking! Chip

This is beautiful, Chip. The water is just amazing! Perfect shutter speed for this. Great light and I like the darker sky alot along with the color.

The water action and the reflections really make this image stand out from most Kiwanda shots Chip. No nits, love it!

Great shot Chip! :toast:

Sky is great with the orange clouds. I love the water motion. Exposure time looks perfect. Do you mind sharing what that was in this image?

Thanks for posting,

The water really is pretty Chip. Wonderful ambience and plenty to look at too. The colors here don't look overdone at all. You've pretty much nailed it. The only thing I can say that doesn't look perfect to my eye is the blend. There is a bit of soft haloing and the top of the ridgeline is noticeably black. I am sure it won't offend many people, but it could be improved upon. With that being said, I do think this is one of your VERY best shots. Congrats :toast:

Wow... This really grabs my attention. Love the shape of the waves. The subtle reflections in the water really add interest, then you get up to the sky and are treated with those beautiful tones. Fabulous image.

What a great dynamic image, it has a painting like quality to it but also contains so much drama! Technically on the money.

Chip, the light in this is incredible, but what really makes the image for me is that fantastic motion in the waves! What a fantastic capture.

The light, warm tones of the sky and cool tones of the water work together to give this a very primordial feel. Really awesome!

A popular spot it seems but I can see why. Gorgeous view and what a combination of both sea and earth.
Great processing on this one Chip. It has great front to back depth and was even wondering if you could slightly dodge the last crash in back. Mainly the exploding tendrils without adversely affecting the color (white)
Think it would add a little more punch to an already explosive shot.

Wonderful mood and a real winner.

Gorgeous colors here Chip! It is a common comp these days, but this is really top notch. I'm assuming that this is a blend of multiple waves coming in at different times, as the center motion conflicts some. A wave coming in, but water runing down the rock face. Not that it matters really...if it is a blend, you did a really decent job of it.

Thanks guys. Rick, I did borrow that spot from the other exposure-there was a crashing wave covering up the rock, and I thought it added a bit more interest to have more of the rock showing. Good eye! Now that I go back and look at it though, I kind of like the original a little better.

This is extremely WOW!! The glowing colors along with the water motion is fantastic. Something about how the blues and greens pop out of the moving water make a nice contrast to the warm glowing colors.
