Season's End

Out at dawn learning the ins and outs of the Singh-Ray Vari-ND filter. I've been shooting this picnic bench for over a year and all the results, well, just didn't work. At all. But there was something about it that spoke to me, so I kept trying. This is the first shot that finally captured something of the spot that I was calling to me.

Canon 5DMkII, 24-105mm @ 55mm, f/22, 15 seconds, iso 100, Gitzo tripod

Thanks for all comments!

I think I see what you were getting at. The vertical lines in the bench echo the bridge pillars. The slightly derilict picnic bench and snow(?) hints at more cheerful (and colourful) times.
Of course this may completely different than what you were thinking ;-)
The B&W sepia tone really makes this image IMO.

Nice image. The toning and high-key look work really well. The long exposure also adds by smoothing out that water.Well done.

Really nice, Jim. Glad you were able to put it together after sticking with it for so long. One of the rewards - when it finally gels. I think your sepia tones are a good choice. The bridge and the table work well together. The lines of the bridge and the table rhyme, bolstered by the two long straight lines of the horizon and the beach. I like the smooth water, too, made possible by your new filter, I guess..
My one small nit is the edge brightening on the left - I'd prefer to see the bridge retain is tone all the way to the edge.
