Cold winter morning

First of all welcome to NPN and the ES&S Gallery! Great to have you here.

This is a wonderful first post. The colors and warmth are such that when I view this I just can't believe it's that cold! I really like your composition; you've given the right amount of space to the reeds/grasses and the background islands of trees do well to frame the upper portion of the image.

I really have no complaints here, although I might be tempted to knock down the highlights on the left as it's a little bright. but that's very minor.

Warm colors give no hint of cold. What looks like water must be ice. Aside from the gold color, the emergent grasses are the most striking element of this picture.

-20 Looks much warmer. Shouldn't there be more ice? Looks like it's water. Regardless, this is really nice. The foreground grasses are my favorite part.

I like the monotone color with it's warmth and the reeds make a pleasing graphic foreground. Welcome!

Thanks for your comments everybody...this image is from the 29th of December which is early winter around Stockholm. It was a clear winter morning and there was smoke coming from the cold water when heated up by the intense sun. The ice had started to build up but it did not cover the lake at this time. For sure it did cover the lake a few weeks later.
