Jury of the Storm

Another from my recent Grand Canyon trip. This was taken the night before during sunset after a clearing storm. Most of the action in the sky was behind me or to the side of me, but the silvery blue color in front of me was actually very striking. Please let me know what you think - all comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Wow, this is a view. Beautiful light and color. Nice comp with the foreground rocks, really has a lot of depth. The sky looks fantastic to me. Really nice. Like this one alot, Michael.

Including the foreground rocks was a good choice. That anchors the whole image and give texture and closeness to the vastness of the canyon; It puts that nervous feeling a little bit in ones stomach - take a step forward and look down. And then the trough leads us to the distant hazy cliffs and the sky. I think you placed the horizon perfectly.

Beautiful image Michael. The sky and the landscape match perfectly. The deep canyon below mimics the openess of the sky above. Real fine shot.

Yup, this is the image I mentioned in my comment on your last post - very nice! It's so hard to work fg into these grand vistas of the canyon - the pinnacles in this with all their texture is really nice.

Outstanding image Michael. Really like how you have emphasized the beauty and sculpture of the canyon with the sky and color in the clouds as a supporting element. The silvery blue tones you mention, in the far distance really give the image a sense of the immensity of the canyon. Superb work.

This comp works very well Michael. I really like how the canyon leads into the distant canyon, and the light adds a lot of beauty to the scene.

Nice photo, I'm not used to seeing so much green in the canyon. :toast:

Another very nice shot from the rim. I like this a lot as well. A neat "little" side canyon???

Thanks everyone for their comments. Dean - thanks for mentioning the "green" in your comment. It certainly was the most striking quality of this area IMO. There was just tons of green and it was super lush. Chris - this is a side canyon looking out in the main canyon, very perceptive. Shane - this view point is on the road to Point Sublime on the North Rim. It is a hardcore 4WD, high clearance road in case you go. Thanks again everyone.
