Love the close-up, the texture of the coat, and the horn. Would like to see at least a hint of the nose or mouth. Super picture!

Hi Jerry. Good job on the exposure. You must have had limited light for the high iso and slow shutter speed. There does appear to be a slight blue cast on my monitor, perhaps due to the failing light. I think the image would have been stronger if he had lifted his head for you. I know that they don't do that much when they are feeding, but still worth waiting it out.

Jerry, you managed to capture excellent detail here despite the relatively high ISO (?-not knowing what camera you are using though) and low SS. I find this an interesting portrait with that nose hidden, yet I also do feel that this would probably be better with the entire face showing. I also see the slight blueish cast, but that's an easy fix.
Btw you say:

I just wanted to add that you may find you can learn as much or even more from critiquing other people's images.

Hey Vincent, I'm using a Nikon D5000 and still only have the Kit lenses. It's my first digital camera...And these are some of my first images. I can certainly comment, but critiquing these images would be tough...I just don't have the knowledge yet. I didn't really do much post processing...How would i get that tint out? I use Aperture for processing.

Nice detail and clarity in the eye. One of the more impressive things about these animals is the size of the head. With that said, I'd also like to see more of the face, the nose/mouth and especially the beard. There's a few different ways to correct the bluish/magenta cast. Easiest way I know of is to simply select the blue and/or magenta color sliders and adjust one/all of the hue, saturation, and lightness sliders until it looks like you remember. And don't feel that you're unqualified to comment on anyone's posts. Your comments don't have to be technical, just simply state what you like or don't like about a photo.
