The Latest in my Dahlia series, this robust peach colored bloom. An overcast sky contributed the mini raindrops.
I considered cloning out the bud in the URC with it's backside showing, what do you think..... better left in or removed?

I decided to clone out the bud mentioned, repost below

Larger version available, thanks for your thoughts!

Craig, nice job on the dahlia, you folks are producing some wonderful dahlia images. I can't shoot them for beans..at least not in way that I like the results. So take my comments in the vain of a dahlia shooter wanna be  When I first saw the image I really like the bottom two thirds. The main dahlia is very well captured and processed. I was having trouble with the area above the bloom. Wasn't doing much for me. However, since you are thinking maybe perhaps to remove the bud. I would consider doing that and then crop down to the tip of the leaf on the bud and introduce a vignette which will eliminate the blank space and keep the eye focused on your main subject. Just my humble $.015 worth

I belong to the group of exclude or include completely. I would not have a problem with the bud if it was in the frame completely. The way it is now, I think its better cloned out  .

Love that Dahlia though. Never seen one in that coloration with White Petal Tips. Pretty.

Craig,

I'd crop down into the sepals on the bud. No other suggestions. Beautiful flower, capture and presentation otherwise.

I guess I knew all along that the OOF Bud in the upper rt. had to go. A streak of laziness set in and I wasn't looking forward to the cloning work, but.... it does look better in my opinion.

Yes, I guess the bg bud is a bit of a distraction but this is beautifully shot, Craig. Just the right angle on the main flower, and I like how it fills the frame.

I liked the original, but I really like the repost. The bud had to go but the crop off the top was equally important. Very nice work.

The repost works great for me Craig. That bloom is in fabulous shape. Really wonderful!

On a side note, my dahlias have been fun to shoot this year, but a thunderstorm flattened many of the stems back in July or early August. I just let them keep growing and have had some opportunities to shoot them, I just have to use a plamp to prop them up when I want to do that.
