Catching some rays

This is a rhodie from my garden. I always thought this variety would make a nice chapter in the light box diaries. Until now though, I couldn't get the sharpness in the petals I was looking for. Also, I downloaded viveza 2 to try out. I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out.

Comments, suggestions and critiques always welcomed and appreciated.

Bob, the color and the detail are awesome. Please tell us more about Viveza 2.

Thanks,

Wonderful light and color! I love the "fade to black—it gives so much depth and substance to the image. Good work! :toast:

Beautiful light and sharpness Bob. I love the look to the main bloom, but also like what the supporting blooms do for the shot. Fabulous!

Top notch image! Rich color and great details. :toast:
Like to suggest crop slightly along the left to just before the leaf tips to make the flowers more centered but this is just a personal preference. I seen the demo on Viveza's website and look like a very useful tool.

Wonderful composition Bob. I like the lighting on the main flower and the soft glow of colors that are given off. I'm on my laptop, but from here the sharpness looks pretty good in the larger version :toast:

The light is gorgeous and really showcases the exquisite colors and fine details of these subjects. There are a couple of highlight spots in the lower frame that could go but this looks great to me.

Bob,

For my tastes this is just superb. That said: If you wanted you could bring in a touch more light on the viewer's right. You could also crop in tighter to better emphasize the detail in the bloom. I'm not sure that the leaf tips add that much interest and I might sacrifice them to see more of the flower. Really fine work.

I like it just as it is Bob. Lovely image. The hint of light on the leaves is an interesting point to view and briefly takes my eye off the flower, but the subtle lighting lets me get right back. Keeps me in the frame longer.

Once again, a beautifully composed flower portrait, Bob. I do like the high contrast lighting, though maybe the leaves might be a touch less dark ? Just a thought - this is really great.
