Zinnias a la Monet

An impressionists view of a fabulous bed of zinnias at Pt. Defiance Park, Tacoma, WA.

Thanks for viewing and commenting on "Mopsy," my previous post, and for looking at the "real" zinnias in Flora.

I've never attempted photo art, and don't like most of the ones that I see, but I do like this one, Catherine. I like the mix of color, the lines, and I think you took a photograph of something that an impressionist would paint.

Now you're cookin Catherine, or, should I say painting. I liked your post in flora, but, I REALLY REALLY like this one. Just fantastic. Care to comment on your technique??

Catherine, A very nice impressionist painting feel to this. I like the colors and the original is lovely.

Has Monet written all over it Catherine. After typing this I looked up and saw your title. Marvelous in every way. :toast:

Thanks everyone for your comments here and on the original image in flora.

Bob, the technique: filters from the Flaming Pear suite of plug-ins. This particular one was pretty simple to do, but usually I combine filters from Flaming Pear and PS on layers and blend to get a painterly effect that looks more genuine. Depending on my original photograph/composition, I also use the patch tool a lot, mostly to put color in the background, tone down down stubborn blurred highlights and flares, etc. One of the benefits of not having the greatest vision (I get "stuff" in my images that I didn't see when I took it.) is that I have become somewhat of an expert at "artification." And otherwise, it's just plain fun to play. It's a cleaner version of fingerpainting!

This is lovely Catherine. Wonderful color pallette and arrangement. This would look so nice printed large and hung on a wall.

Many congrats on the EP, Catherine !! Brilliant, dappled, painterly colouring, and the extended V shape of red flowers lower L sets the rhythm for a very satisfying composition. Great stuff !

Sorry I didn't see this earlier, Catherine, it is really wonderful. The zinnias at Point Defiance were very colorful this year and you took full advantage of them. Great job!
