Wood Duck

Spent a morning at a local nature preserve hoping the egrets and herons would come back. (They didn't)
Lucky for me the wood ducks came back and stayed long enough for me to get some decent shots.

Nikon D300 w/500mm f/4
1/400sec. f/4. ISO 400
Tripod, DIY Ground blind, and a lot of waiting around

Thanks for looking. :wavey:

I like the low angle and habitat. Patience certainly paid off here. If this were mine I'd be tempted to off center the duck, well more to the left and show the whole grassy clump on the right. Very nice work as is though. Congrats!

Like the angle in this shot Joel. Also like showing the female of this species...she doesn't get a lot of attentino from photographers ebcause the male is so colorful. I agree with Akos about the crop.

Joel,
great low angle and very nice setting. I like the pose too. I also agree with Akos about the crop. Nicely done.

Akos' crop suggestion is a good one IMO. Otherwise I love the feel of this. Very nice.

I like the comp as posted, framed by the 2 grass clumps. Overall the image seems a little bright, but not overexposed. Well seen! Sharon

Great setting and detail Joel - really like the way the vegetation frames the bird and also adds interest

cheers

Nice one, Joel. The light tones throughout suit this female duck. But I'd play with the comp a little.

Joel,

Another vote for the comp Ákos suggested, I think it will improve an already strong image. Love the setting, tilt of her head and your low angle. Nice to see the female posted, I think she is every bit as alluring as her male counterpart

Nicely done Joel. I especially like that inquisitive little tilt of the head and your low angle. I'd play with the comp suggestion also to see if it worked.
