Lesser Goldfinch

Another species I tend to take for granted. This one landed on my set up perch in some nice light, and I think it turned out well. I left the small second catchlight in (which is probably reflection off the small waterhole that lures the birds to me) since it's quite small.

Your comments and critiques are appreciated. Please view the larger version if possible.

Canon 7D, 500mm +1.4x TC, tripod, setup perch.

f/8, 1/160, ISO 400. Natural light.

Crop to 55% (9.8 of 18MP)

Really nice all the way around Brian. Great detail in the large version. The two-tone BG is not my favorite, but that is a very small nit on a great shot.

Good techs all around. The split tone bg works well here folowing the colors of the goldfinch.

Nice capture of the bird in some nice light. Details look great on the finch. I'm not wild about the background changing in the middle of the bird.

Sharpness and eye contact look great, I also like that we can discern the trunk in the BG.
