Beautiful as I find this, its quite the little devil. Its certainly a weed (pattersons curse I think) but has quite the pretty flower.

I like the diagonal composition in this Andrew and the rich color. The larger version is particularly striking. As a subjective matter, I might be tempted to clone out the color in the viewer's upper left corner and take that area black or violet like the lower right corner. Beautiful macro work as posted and the processing looks very good to me.

Hi Andrew, you're right, it is a little devil ;^) The petals have a nice softness to them, and you might want to clone a petal in that black space on the lower right. What do you think?

Keep shooting.

Very nice "intense" shot, Andrew. I like very much the electric blue color !

Andrew, the intensity of the colour is great. I see a wonderful circular crop well when you print it in a circular mat to mimic the form of the bloom around the in focus filamnet/anthers. I would think it would make a stunning abstract.

Beautiful colors and composition. I might take a small slice off the bottom if it were mine.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I had considered cloning into the 'blank' spaces but wasn't sure quite how much artistic license to use. The circular crop idea is certainly interesting also. I'll have a play around with these suggestions. Thanks again.

Andrew: Very cool subject and I like your DOF?POF choice. I would like to see a crop of the bottom for sure and maybe even some off the top. Bob's suggestion of a circular crop is intriguing. Terrific capture. >=))>

The flower seems to be saying "take the bull by the horns" . Love this abstract-ish look to this, Andrew :toast:

Love how you captured the color and glow of this flower. It's very dramatic in composition while retaining a pleasing amount of softness and a sense of movement. The striations of color are well placed by Mother Nature to lure the viewer to and into the bloom. The perspective you chose emphasizes that nicely. Really good!
