moonrise
by Ant
Lately my participation in the forum has been rather intermittent... but here comes a picture: Moonrise over the Ligurian Sea (in the Mediterranean Sea), on a late evening at the end of July. Hasselblad 503CW, 180/4, Velvia 50. I attempted at getting a classic, geometric image.

11 commentsThis is a great success for wanting to achieve a geometric image - this is fabulous! I'm not sure if the vignetting at the bottom is from lens and conditions or added afterwards. It really doesn't matter but I really like the effect on the scene. The positioning of the moon is perfect and you have a magnificent sky.
My only nitpick is that the blue seems on the border of become neon, mostly near the top. But I do love the color combo with the pink clouds. This is just beautifully captured.

I like the composition; there is lots of drama. I agree with Lon about the vignetting and the saturation of the sky. I like the color of the clouds, and the moon.

@Lon and Preston: I checked on the slide, vignetting is already there and was probably increased by the scanning (I used a Nikon 9000 which I am renting for two weeks). And yes, the blue is a touch too electric...
You did a phenomenal job with this. The geometry is wonderful and the photo really holds my interest.
