Calidris alpina

Taken on the Gulf coast of Florida, I was laying down in very shallow water in a lagoon photographing a Red-breasted Merganser when this Dunlin came into view and proceeded to bathe, then fluff.

My 80-400mm (my lens of choice on the beach) was off being repaired so I used my 70-300mm VR.

D200, HH, f6.3, 1/800, ISO 160, 70-300mm VR at 300mm, 52% of original image, natural light. Larger version provided because it show the sharpness and detail much better than a small version.

Thank you for looking and as always I sincerely appreciate your comments and critiques.

Really nice as usual Mia. I love the fluffed pose and light. Sharpness and detail are really high. I also like the water in the FG and the beach BG.

I like the fluffy look here: with your usual excellent detail we have a beautiful view of the feathers, Mia. Especially the overlapping colors of the plumage are handsome. :toast:
