Alpine Cathedral

Truth be told, I went here to get this shot. Lighting was provided by the tail end of a clearing storm...I debated whether or not to shoot towards the incredible sunset (no mountains), or take the mountains with lesser drama. Ultimately, I suppose I just love the quintessential mountain-lake-alpenglow combination, and I really really wanted to remember Dusy Basin just like this.

Thanks for comments and suggestions!

Pretty incredible scene. Seems like the top edges of the mountains are a little dark compared to the rest, perhaps from a blend? or maybe the light was just like that. Other than that small Nit this is just awesome.

"....don't know why so few comments."

I am puzzled by this as well, but I am sure there will be many more today. This is gorgeous. Well composed and the light is sublime. :toast:

Very pretty scene Cory. The shorline of this tarn or lake guides the eye nicely up through the image. The forum seems to be in a bit of a funk this week. Lots of lookers, few comments. Don't be discouraged, this is good work.

What a beautiful setting. That light is gorgeous. As noted, the tops of the mountains seem to be a little darker for some reason. Maybe the GND? Really pretty shot.

I think a lot of folks would want to remember Dusy Basin in just the way you've captured it here. It's beautiful on many different levels, and I can't find anything to critique. I did notice the issue with the tips of the peaks being a bit darker than perhaps they should be, but it doesn't bother me and, if it were mine, I don't think I'd even bother trying to address that. Killer work . . . and your last post from this location was even more remarkable.

By the way, congrats on the OP cover shot. I recognized that image right away from your post here months ago. Definitely well deserved recognition.

I think you made the right decision. This is a very nice image and the mountains are a big part of what makes this work.

Kevin, this is in the northeastern region of King's Canyon National Park, just outside of Bishop, CA.
