Here's one from Bosque last fall. This shot was taken to get intentional wing blur, thus I dropped the iso down to 100 here to get my shutter speed low. I panned with the birds as they flew by. You get some beautiful sunrises and sunsets at Bosque, this was at sunset. It's about 90% of the frame with just a sliver taken from the left.

MkIII 500F4 1/25 F4.5, iso 100, handheld

Really beautiful work all around. The color of the sky adds a lot, but you nailed the wing motion as well.

Brilliant! The colour gradation in the background is wonderful and the blur is perfect.

Nate...This is a very nice image. The soft pastel background and the blurred wings makes a pleasing image. Well done, Nate.

You gotta love the Bosque!! Nice image. Your panning technique on this one looks great. Love the pastel colored sky. Looking forward to the winter season as Bosque. Just hope the refuge management does a better job this year than they did last year.

This is a prime example to show that with bird photography images don't always need to be sharp as razors. I love the motion you have conveyed and it is evidence of solid knowledge of equipment, lighting and all other aspects of bird photography. An astounding image with wonderful mood. Love it Nate. :toast: :toast: :toast:

Nate - I love the pastel colors here and the blurred wings are wonderful I think. I do wish the leading bird's body were a bit sharper though.

Love it all, but agree the leading bird being blurred detracts just a bit.

A difficult shot to nail Nate and you've really done it. The blur is fantastic in the wings, just wish the 2 lead birds themselves were slightly sharper. Almost impossible to do though. You some beautiful light Nate. Nicely done.

Great techs, Nate, and considering 1/25th nice detail on the heads of the birds. When were you at the Bosque? I was there from 11-33 last November.

Wonderful image! The BG color is perfect for these birds and season. The sense of motion conveyed by the wing blur is amazing.

Creative idea, Nate. The blurred wings and beautiful sunset colors are very attractive. Although you would be removing some of that lovely sunset coloring you could consider more of a pano crop here. :toast:
