Dawn's Early Light

This image arises from a series of experiments I was engaged in, trying to photograph scenes with very tough lighting conditions. This is a composite of two images, one exposed so as to not totally blow out the sun and surrounding areas, the other exposed to prevent the total silhouetting of the foreground.

Olympus C8080WZ, f/8 @ 1/250 and 1/2000, FL 7.4mm (35mm equivalence of 28mm), PSE2 work for blending, levels, saturation, cropping, USM, NeatImage.

Nice work on a difficult lighting condition. The sun’s ray came out great after the blending good PS work. Aside from the PS work I do like the final image.

Thanks, James and Cindy! Both of your comments are greatly appreciated! This was just out my back door... sometimes the easiest places to get to yield the most interesting opportunities...

Very nice piece of work! My only nit is that I would wish for a lower angle - really want to see all of the foreground flowers as the sun caresses them. Still, I'd hang it on my wall as is!

Thanks for the compliments, Lee!

I don't think you really would have wanted a lower angle on this one if you knew what would have been showing lower in the picture. As it is, I had to crop a little at the bottom because otherwise you'd have seen the fence at my rear property line...
