Ursus Mammatus

I want to post this as a prelude to the next shot. This was a pretty amazing evening. There were so many clouds in the afternoon that I and some other photographers in the area were worried no sunset would happen this evening. We were pretty stoked when they turned into these mammatus clouds. One of the photographers was Miles Morgan. He was in the sweet spot, so I went to find a different comp. Great to meet you Miles.

Wonderful display of clouds here indeed. Great stuff. I might prefer the whole thing just a bit darker to simplify and bring out their dramatic presence.

DANG Ron, this looks totally cool!! You did a much better job of highlighting these clouds than I did. I struggled with the colors on mine, and after looking at this might go back and check out some re-processing. It was a pleasure meeting you as well, and I've really enjoyed your images from that weekend.

Ooo, I can't wait to see these clouds light up in your next post. Even here, through, it makes for a pretty incredible scene. Scroll crop of some of the bottom of the image works nicely too. Not meaning to be picky, but could also maybe think about a bit of burning on the foreground rock in the center highlight.

Awesome clouds and good composition. The sky and the mountains blend in a little. Any way to contrast them from each other? Small nit I suppose. Great conditions!

Robert,
Very Beautiful scene. Vibrant colors and fantastic clouds. I do find the FG rocks to be a little distracting. Maybe a slight crop? Best Regards.

Definitely some awesome clouds, looking forward to seeing this next one you are mentioning. Could use a bit more work in the mid and background, contrast wise, I suppose. Very trippy.

Incredible, those clouds really set the stage here for the grand scenery. I'm heading to Glacier soon, hopefully I'll get as lucky as you did here, great job.

Ron - This must have been on 7/31? Way cool! I agree with the comment to darken the rock formations a tad to highlight the clouds. A remarkable moment.
