Excellent sharpness and wonderful pose. If the head were just a touch more turned towards you it would have been even better. Still looks gorgeous as is and I'd be happy to have this in my collection. Congrats!

great shot, Sandy. love the curving head and neck, the open bill, and the great ripples and textures throughout the water.

very pleasant image, the unusual pose makes reflection even more attractive. Can be read as abstract.

Very appealing image, Sandy. I like the open beak with the reflections in the beak and in the water, the droplets on the bird and the curve line of the head/neck.

I found my first Western Grebe at Klamath, too. But, I have to remark that it is not the best place to photograph as getting a low angle is "verboten", and the birds will fly off when your car gets to within +/-100 yards!
Well done with this one!

I like the strong graphic design in this. There's a significant difference in color/contrast between the small version and the larger one - the larger image is much nice in color-aware Safari on a Mac.

I like the pose you caugh this Western Grebe in, how low the bird's body is in the water, which is what I would expect to see right before this species dives. Love how the bill tip is just touching the water and the silkiness of the water itself.

Love the loop effect from the reflection. The slightly open bill and sharp red eye really set this off, Sandy.

Nice lighting and strong composition Sandy. I like the warm light on the beak. This Western sure seems to be riding low in the water.

Mia is right, that this is about 1/4 second before it dived!
