Reaching Out-Help Crop?

Photographed in Point Lobos State Reserve this past weekend on my Big Sur Workshop. This tree caught our eye as we walked along one of the trails. We photographed it just as the fog was starting to break.

I liked how the tree branches on the right were reaching out and want to accentuate that, but no matter how I cropped it I liked it. This first one is the full frame, then I have a 4x5 crop, then a 2.5x1 crop and finally the 3x1 crop.

Nikon D2x, Nikon 28-105mm @ 105mm f11 1/15 ISO 100.

Your comments on this image much appreciated and your choice of crop.

Gosh Youssef, you make this tough to choose. I prefer the full frame and the 2.5x1 crops because they emphasize the branches on the right side of the image IMO. I bet this looks great in a print because of all those details.

I vote for the 2.5x1, it displays the branches nicely and removes the oof urc.

Excellent composition Youssef you have colors not often seen in vegetation scenes and that's really interesting. I like the shot a lot.

They all have a genes-qua but I would consider clonging or cropping out the intruding branch in the Uhrc. Translation All of the images a strong and it's very hard to pick a favorite Youseff.

Nice. I really like the sense of glow that the fog imparted. I prefer the full frame on this one.

Youssef,

Great job isolating the essential elements of this intimate tree scene - I really like this (no surprise there.) As far as crops go, the only thing bothering me about the original and the 4x5 crop is the bright patch in the ULC. If you could do some magic cloning up there I think I would prefer the original. However, the 2.5:1 works the best in presenting the "reaching out" of the limbs and also I think the hanging moss is displayed nicely as well.

The great thing is that you've got a wonderful subject that is allowing these multiple crops. Great eye and capture Youssef.

A beautiful portrait of this tree. The full frame is what I like the most, although some of the crops are very interesting in their own right.
