Steinbock cub

We saw this young steinbock with its mother not far from Valmasque refuge, Mercantour National Park, Maritime Alps, France; the sun was setting and the light was too low to take a photo. So we spent some minutes observing them.
This image was shot the following morning; we were preparing for the hike of the day and we noticed that mother and cub spent there the night; we had some time to take some shots. This one is our favorite of the series.

We hope you like it! The larger version is availabl too!

Thanks for looking.

I like this very much; good light, pleasant background and good detail. I like the composition as well.

What a fabulous shot! :toast: Gorgeous eye. Really like how you caught it in stride, as it adds a sense of energy, livliness. The background is great, too- supports the subject while letting the cub just pop in its environment.

Nice work and a very cute subject. I like the angle of light giving some rim lighting effect and that the shadow side retains good detail. Composition feels just right to my eye. The angled flat rock perch and warm grasses are bonus.
