Brown Pelican

At the mouth of Southwest Pass in the West Delta of the Mississippi River several Brown Pelican's hang out on the break wall. They all typically fly away when you get close. This one hung out long enough to get a few images. I am still trying to get some photos of them fishing.

Shot with a Canon 7D, 300mm f/4L IS @ ISO 200, f/8 @ 1/800 sec.

This is a fine image of a Brown Pelican. I can't nit pick this image. Exposure is fine and the placement in the frame is good. Nice image.

I think you've got a pretty nice shot here David. Sharpness looks good at this size, the whites on the head aren't too hot and I like the tones on the body of the bird. Perhaps a few more pixels up top?

Ron,
When you say a few more pixels up top do you mean leave some space up there?

Very interesting how the brown colors in the bird are repeated in the water. Well done in all areas. Your next step will have to be a flight shot when they, predictably, fly away.

David - Yes, that's what I mean. For my tastes it's ever so slightly tight above the bird's head. But it's a minor nit and composition is very personal - many will likely disagree.
