A parting shot from the Broken Eggs in the Bisti Wilderness. This was a sunrise shot (with the camera finally back on RAW). In the order I've posted these four, the first looks south, the second north, the third east, and this one (north)west.

The eggs are in rows running roughly north and south, and I would love to have rotated the comp to have the rows lead deeper into the photo, but the clouds ended just past the right margin and I opted for the colored sky.

Nikon D80
Nikon 12.0-24.0 mm f/4.0 at 14 mm
Hand Blend of 0.5 & 1.0 sec at f/16 and ISO 100

Beautiful lighting here John. I like how the clouds mimic the shapes of the foreground eggs. I agree with what you are saying about the comp, but this still works very well for me. Great job.

This is very, very, very excellent! I love all of the elements that have really come together here for you, and you've handled the reds wonderfully.

John, I went back and looked again at the three previous images from here. All four are great, but this one is the best, I think. What a sky! :toast:

Wow John, the sky in this image is just priceless. Well composed and exposed. I'm not sure about the rows, but can see that the right edge of the comp might have been cut off a little. Still, very pleasing. Best Regards.

I saw the thumbnail and thought wow, you must be really kicking yourself for having the camera in basic jpeg mode during your time here. I see you had it back on RAW though . . . great! This is probably the best of your shots from this location. Actually, I think it's one of the better ones that I've seen from this location period. Gorgeous all around.

An extremely well crafted image John. You were blessed with some extraordinary conditions during your stay at Bisti. I especially like the separation between the first and second egg rows. Basically, you alluded to the fact the left side of the image is a little sparse and I agree with that too.

I like the image very well as presented and also I could possibly see cooling off the tones in the sky a bit to create more contrast between the colors on the opposite sides of the horizion here. Awesome work! BTW, congrats on the 1st place finish in OP photo contest - I am assuming that was you.

What an incredible place! The composition works very well for me, the rows of "eggs" are well separated and the sky adds much of the depth you were looking for in my opinion. Fantastic light and great processing, not the smallest nit from me.

Facinating sunset at egg factory. I was there in January, but never captured such light.

Northwest sunrise? Wow! to get light like this in the west is pretty rare for sunrise. Gorgeous image.

Easily my favorite of the series John. Warm tones throughout convey the feeling of the calmness of sunrise. The two foreground elements remind me of tortoise shells.

The sky is awesome, and comp is nice enough--though i think these formations work best when there's more light on them.

Fan-tas-tic
I'm quite sure this is not from earth, I'm not going to ask from what planet it is but I'm interested to know if the camera works well in a different atmosphere!
