Morning Sunlight

While in the Jasper/Banff area last week I had the opportunity to get to my favorite of all places...Moraine Lake. Once again thinking I left my hotel with plenty of time, due to heavy construction on the highway I got here later than I would have liked. What I was trying to do here was to emphasize the sunlight on the mountain peaks in the reflection of the lake while still giving some detail of the rocks under the waters surface. As you can see the smoke from the fires in BC slightly mutes the detail on the mountain face of the mountain as the sun rises in the TRC.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look.

As always your thoughts and comments are welcome and appreciated.

Interesting shot of that location. You found an perspective that is fresh and new - at least for me. Not much room for improvement - well done!

Hi Mark,

Maybe the very best I've seen from you on here. Nicely processed, cohesive, and well executed. Very nicely done. Congrats :wavey:

I think you accomplished your goal, and the right side of the frame is beautiful. However, the left side of the frame does nothing for me and there is really nothing of interest to look at. I would try a vertical shot (or crop) emphasizing the right.

My two cents—I like everything about this picture from left to right! My one and only nit is an "if only". If only you had gotten there a little earlier, it would have been even better. :toast:

Very tranquil Mark. I like the reflection and the arrangement of your elements. Nice job.

I like this, and the fact you avoided including the peaks, going for a more intimate scene. I would crop to avoid that little tiny area of sky though...Well done.

This is beautiful. The lake is like glass and I love the composition. It's especially impressive in the large version. No nits from me. :toast:

very good. like everything about this - but particularly the thin sliver of turquoise. i might be inclined to slice a little off the top to exclude the sky completely.

i didn't know nikon had a d500 in production!?
