This whitetail buck came very close last week, with the overcast conditions helping me get the shot here.

Nice job. We have a lot of deer down here this year, but getting in this close is tough. I especially like the detail in the velvet. DOF handles this subject well. BG looks good. I like your tight crop

Very nice portrait of this young buck. Fantastic detail. Just enough framing to be comfortable for me.

You nailed the DOF here Howard. The fine furry details are really nice as well. I had a whole gang of these in my yard last summer but they have been scarce this season.

Exposure seems just right, Howard. I like this close up, but it might be a little tight in the frame if you were to mat it, for instance. Detail is good from antlers to nose. I most like the reflective quality of the wet nose and the eye.

That's very close Howard! The overcast conditions allowed you to capture incredible detail. I like the interesting head pose, but find the shooting angle a bit awkward with the body appearing behind the head like this.

This is a very pleasing portrait, Howard.
I love the glossy black nose and the texture in the face and antlers.
Well done.
