GHO in the spotlight

Only an adult and this juvi around this morning and they both seemed much more nervous than usual. I don't know if it has anything to do with yesterdays encounter with the Cooper's/Goshawh (see my forum post). The Juvenile did stop in this location for a few shots before bailing out of here as well.

Canon 50D Canon 400 2.8 w/1.4 ex iso 100 1/125th @ f4

Thanks for looking.
Comments always welcome.

I love this. The dappled light and dark setting is perfect, especially with the eyes catching the sunlight. The other-the-shoulder look towards the camera is perfect as well. :toast:

As you know Neil I've been following your GHO posts and this is my favorite of the bunch so far. I think the spotlight effect is wonderful, those eyes really pop and I like the bits of light on the background. Really nice!

Dappled lighting isn't my favorite, but I think it really works here. Gives the image a mysterious mood. Love how the light is hitting the eyes. Nicely done. :wavey:

Sometimes it is tough having the dappled light coming through the trees but it works really well here I think in part because the eyes are so well lit and the bird has this enigmatic look to it with it's turn of the head over it's shoulder.

One has to view the larger photo to appreciate this one adequately. I like the detail on the owl, the eyes really stand out in the frame with that dark background.
