Peek-a-boo owl

Another from last month's adventure with a juvenile Eastern Screech Owl. I know this is a lot more cluttered than most images posted here, but I liked the peek-a-boo feeling. What do you think? 7D, f/5, 1/40, ISO 800, ~50% crop

I really like this shot. This is the way I see birds most of the time and I don't take the shot. After seeing this shot, I will look for the opportunities when the birds are hiding.

Rob, this is one of those times when fg clutter is useful. Love the peek-a-boo effect, which could never happen so well without those eyes.

This works for me just fine. I've seen many owls in similar cover and find it completely natural.

well seen, Rob. The unobstructed eyes and (mostly) bill are great. good with with the focus in this complicated setting. I like this a lot. :toast:

I like the peek-a-boo feeling too Rob, the eyes draw me in and this is the type of setting I would expect to see this species in naturally. A hidden treasure.

Perfect placement of the eyes in this situation Rob and I think it's even more effective with the almost coy, "chin" down position of the head.

I like this a lot Rob, nice job seeing this and executing it at a slow shutter speed. :toast:
