Spegazzini glacier

This is a photo of the Spegazzini glacier at El Calafate. I don´t have idea where those magenta tones tones on the sky came from, and i preffered to keep the original colors of the raw file.

Hand-held. 5D / 17-40L / Singh-ray warming polarizer

Please check the large view provided.

Thanks in advance.

I'm a fan of the composition, the atmosphere, the textures, and lets be honest, this location is incredible with those wicked mountains behind the rugged face of the glacier. My first response was that the photo seems just a little "over-baked" if you know what I mean, but I'm getting used to it. Personally, I would tone things down a little.

Woaa.. I don't know if the blue is accurate or not but it sure is striking in this image. Almost looks like a B&W with colored foreground glacier. The comp, color , and sky are all very appealing to me.

Glaciers are a lot harder to photograph than they look. These blues are pretty intense given that grey sky- but I like it.

I like how majestic that glacier looks. I personally would take some of the magenta out, I believe it may come from the warming polarizer.

Fantastic drama Ricardo. I too would slightly back down the magenta and the brightest blues, but then I wasn't there and this may be dead on. I would love to visit something like this some day.

Hi Ricardo!

I love those tiny ice lines that gives sense of depth, providing good reading from the right corner to the glacier, and finally to the sky. I agree with Kah and perhaps try to take some light out of the central white spot to improve the proccess

Wow, Ricardo. Great capture! So dramatic and beautiful. I visited Moreno Glacier and the blues looked exactly like that too. Did you shoot this from the boat? Love your capture. Weather conditions look perfect for shooting this type of landscape. Great work.

Thanks a lot for the comments

I think the intense blues are the result of the overcast light and the polarizer, because i didn´t modified the original colors from the raw file. I know it looks oversaturated but it´s not from the processing. Notice the not to blue part of the glacier at the top right of the frame on the mountaing, light was pretty unusual, stormy, and that may be the cause of the intense blues.
Anyways, i´ll tone down those blues a little and post it later.

Gabi: Thanks. Yes mate, from the boat and moving

Thanks again for the feedback!

Hi Ricardo,

I really like the light flowing out from behind the rocks and the cloud bursts. The colors look very natural too. I could see selectively lightening the right hand corner of the scene with the peak enshrouded in fog and slight crop up on the FG. Overall, I like it although it does look a tad bit soft at the top of the left peaks. Great job and spectacular location.

This is a very powerful image. The color of the ice is intense but I don't think you need to pull back on it. Between the ice, the water and the sky, you have a real winner here.

Ricardo,

I actually like the slight color variation in the clouds, and I don't mind the blues, but might be just a little strong. But this is a great capture of the glacier and the moment of the sky; a little bit of drama of "earth" and "sky." An amazing sight.
