Life Finds A Way

Wildflowers seem to grow in some of the most awkward places. This little Columbine grew in a crack in the rocks. There can't be much more than a teaspoon of soil in that crack and yet it flourishes. When life gets me down I find images like this uplifting. They inspire me to do my best no matter what the conditions.

I was battling gusty winds to get this shot and the flower came out a little softer than I would have liked. Oh well, I did the best I could given the conditions.

Mark,

For my tastes this is a very fine image. Great capture and I love the contrast between the flora and the rock face. A crop from the top to a point just above or below that pinkish nexus in the rock would better emphasize the flower but I also like the texture and patterns in the existing image very much. Don't know what you had to do to get this shot but it was worth it. Beautiful image.

Works great as presented. Texture in the rock face by itself would make for a superb photo and now add that small little plant and the Columbine in bloom, it simply puts it over the top.

I bet the transparency would be mesmerizing. Good work, Mark :toast:

Rock solid image  Lots of contrast here: green and brown, delicate flower and the hard rock, growth and adversity etc. :toast:

Looks great to me. Great color and texture contrasts! I also enjoying seeing life thriving in inhospitable conditions. Makes me ashamed of myself for complaining too much when I should be more grateful. Thanks for the uplift this morning. :toast:

Hi Mark :wavey: A striking image with superb detail, color and light. I too would crop the top to better emphasize the lovely small flower. :toast:

Great find Mark, and well captured. The textures in the rock make a great foil to the more delicate nature of the foliage and flower. I can see value in a crop from the top, but nice as is also.
