Ardea alba

I took quite a few images of this Great Egret and Mullet on the west coast of Florida. The Egret caught the Mullet out in deeper water and was bring it to shore to eat.

D200, f7.1, 1/640, ISO 160, 80-400mm VR at 360mm, natural light, 70% of the original image, not baited. Larger version provided for evaluation of sharpness & detail.

As always, I sincerely appreciate your comments & critiques, thank you for looking.

The fish makes the image. Nice technicals, as always.

how nice, Mia--the fish and the raised leg are fantastic. I also like the ripples moving out from the bird. the angle is perhaps not quite as low as I'm used to seeing in your shots, but I don't think it detracts. your whites look very good, as usual.

Clear view of the fish really makes this Mia. I like the 'keen to get to shallow water before I drop it' look on its face.

Mia, I like this. Good detail in the egret head and fish where it counts and the ripples made by the bird walking add interest. Seems the egret is very carefully posing with its proud catch.

Beautiful work Mia. The bait and the raised foot are icing on the cake.

Beeautiful, Mia. I love the subtle change in the shade of the water at the end of the ripples. :toast:

Mia-nice catch...for both of you. Love the motion of the right leg, the resulting wake, and the cool clean BG. :toast:
