Lazuli Bunting
by Ron Dudley
I believe this to be the same bird and perch as in my post of 7/27 - different time, different background and different angle. This was taken at the San Rafael Swell in central Utah and the background is Entrada Sandstone for which "the swell" is well known.
7D, 1/2500, f/8, ISO 800 (wish I'd been lower), 500 f/4, 1.4 tc, shot from pickup window on 6/4/10, cropped to 51% of original image, very slight exposure adjustment in ACR, sharpening to bird and perch, used clone tool on two OOF twigs coming into bottom of frame and on a very bright area of the perch, NR to background, no further processing or adjustments, natural light

It seems fitting that your image will get my 10,000th comment since we are such good friends and shoot together so often. I love the sandstone in the background of this image, it makes the bird stand out well and compliments the lovely blues of this species. I love the light, the pose, sharpness and details.
When I look at this I can hear the bird singing. I love that.

You guys sure have some beautiful birds over there in America.
Well done.
