These Astromeria petals fell while shooting a past-its-prime flower. The color patterns intrigued me.

Wayne,
The processing on this striking. It makes me think of mother of pearl or abalone and it's perfect for the light colors in the petals. Ethereal, airy, celestial - they all fit. I wish the petal at the viewer's bottom right were moved into the rest of the group or that there was a corresponding petal on the other other end of the diagonal but it doesn't really matter. Beautiful work and image for my tastes. Would you mind giving at least a brief explanation of your set up for this?

Wayne: The thumbnail certainly gives little hint of the magic beyond. Absolutely beautiful work of art. Many kudos. >=))>

Pat, for the setup I had strung aluminum foil on a frame so that it curved where the back met the table top much like a studio background setup. Then with the flowers in front it made an almost seamless background except the foil eventually became creased. That made highlights and shadows appear in the bg, so in post I did some D&B, although not with the dodge and burn tools, but rather I brushed using a 50% grey.

Wayne,
Thank you for the explanation. Beautiful work. Knowing you were working with foil, I'm even more impressed with the exposure control.

Very beautiful shot, Wayne. The choice of aperture worked very nicely here in rending the fallen petals with just enough detail to complement the soft OOF areas.

Lovely, most excellent high key, selective focus image. Many for this wonder, Wayne. Oh, it really has a dreamy and romantic feel to it. Makes me think of weddings and proms and "princesses" and such things. Contemplative also. My goodness, what a evocative image.
Should be a great one to market, Wayne. Hope you do and with lots of success.

Bold and creative! I like this a lot. Wonderful center-detail and colors direct the eye with surrounding that compliments it thoroughly. Almost as if they are still floating down from heaven.
