Chestnut-crowned Babbler

Got onto a noisy group of babblers just as the sun was setting, which made for harsh shadows and difficult exposure. This is a fairly large crop but images from closer had too much contrast.

cheers

This is beautiful. The warm light really works well with the earth tones of the bird, perch, and background. Very nicely done! :toast:

Nicely done Rob, like the warm light and a great babbler pose. I only got close to these in ordinary light.

Sweet image, Rob. I like the classical diagonal perch and the alert pose. The touch of color in the eye is always nice. :toast:

Beautiful Rob. I so enjoy seeing your images of birds that are new to me.

You certainly have an interesting range of birds in Australia. I wouldn't have known this was a large crop because the detail looks very good and I can't see any noise. I also like the colour balance of the image. Graham

Rob, I like it is posted. The pose makes me think this babler was about to take off, the golden light is lovely and although there are shadows, we'd see those with our eyes at that time of day so I am fine with them. Lovely natural colors and comp.

Sweet light here Rob. A great BG, great eye contact, and tack sharp. What's not to like about this babbler.

Nice pose and sharpness looks good Rob. I like the way you've placed both bird and perch in the frame. Neat background too. It all works well IMO.

Cool looking bird Rob, very distinctive markings. As stated, the earth tones throughout all compliment this great comp with an excellent result. I think the late light, although difficult as you say, really made the difference here..
Beautiful work! :toast:

This does have some strong light but for me does not hurt the image at all, the composition, perch, background and feather detail all come together, well done.
