Red Rock Morning

I was drawn to the contrast between the snow capped mountains and the red rock foreground. But it is pretty tough to find dramatic skies in southern Utah in April. I tried three mornings and got nothing in the skies. I didn't have long before the light got harsh. I appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.

The contrast between the red rock and the distant blue mountains works well. The mountains are a good stand-in for a dramatic sky. The foreground seems to be mostly in shadow. A GND could have been used brighten the foreground, or it could be done in post-processing.

I'm looking at this on an uncalibrated laptop and exposure looks great to me, but that may be the lack of calibration. This really captures the Colorado Plateau in the deserts-to-mountains scenery.

I like the layering of the foreground and the mountians cap it off nicely. Maybe a little brighter and some more saturation in the foreground would give it a little extra "pop".

Really like the receding layers to the foreground Chad and the mountains in the background. Jay's suggestion of slightly increasing the brightness and saturation of the foreground might really make this sing. Nice work.

The combination of red, blue, and white out there is wonderful. I hope you enjoyed your time even without anything in the sky - no need for clouds in Utah if you ask me! I would lighten the foreground a bit.

With clear skies, I would have thought the time where the light was just beginning to reach across this landscape (before getting "harsh") might have been really special. Did you photograph at that time?
