I'm not really sure whether this qualifies for "close up." I was photographing the black-eyed susans, with the foreground being in sharp focus using a large aperture. This swallowtail landed in the middle ground and I just had time to get one shot before he flitted off.

I'm doing a little experiment with color management here. The small version was converted to sRGB. The large version was left in Adobe RGB and looks good on my calibrated monitor. Both have the profile embedded.

Beautiful image. The yellow flowers look lovely. The larger version looks good and I can see the details in the darks (of the wings) better. Am unable to be exact on this but the larger version looks slightly brighter (in a good way) too.
Thanks for sharing.

I agree, the larger version looks better - and I am dying to get closer to the very beautiful swallowtail - all the orange flowers somehow clutter the image, although they are very beautiful too....

I like the larger version as well but not sure whether this is due to the color or just better resolution. For direct comparison it would be easier if both images were the same size. Also like the swallowtail. The color of the BF is really beautiful.
