The Encounter

A few days ago I went out into the wilds 40 kilometers east of Kitimat, B.C. I found this beautiful bog (can a bog be beautiful?) and as I trekked across it, I could just picture a grizzly coming out of nowhere. I had a few other photos from an encounter in 2009 so I decided to see what it would look like if I combined them.

Anyhow, I did hear a moose only a few hundred yards away, but I'm glad I didn't run into Mr. Bear. The bears around here aren't known for their sense of humour. Last fall, a friend of mine was dragged into the river by a grizzly as he was standing guard over a moose he had shot only a few hours before. He was lucky that his wardell waders prevented many cuts punctures, but he told me he felt like he had been in a bad car accident.

Hey Doug, at first glance I thought something was off with the bear..then reading your post I see why..he was added... obviously... The light on the bear doesn't match the scene. Way to much top left sunlight and hard shadow... put into a cloudy bog...If you dumb down the saturation and take away some of the sharpness. you may end up with a more foolable presentation ... :toast:

Hi Gary...I agree about the light. Thanks for the suggestions.

Nice image. I like the colors, the dramatic sky, and the bear, which fits in much better in the second image.
