Bald Eagle

We recently took a little expidition to Alaska and had a wonderful opportunity to shoot a fanily of bald eagles as they swooped around a small inlet near Ketchikan. What a great thrill this was for me and my family as we just stood there on a dock and watched them come in and out and land nearby. I will post several more of this series for comments. This one I did turn into a vertical crop from a horizontal picture to get some clutter out of the frame.

D90, 70-200mm w/ 1.7 TC, f/11, 1/100 sec., ISO 200.

A definite keeper, Walt, and I great catch. Only suggestion I would make would be to dull the bright green in the BG so it doesn't detract from your subject.

I would be thrilled with such a capture.

Cheers,

Carol

Walt, I like the downward looking pose with the eye still very visible and I especially like your enthusiasm for what you saw. I'd try working on this in RAW a bit - some of the whites are very bright and to my eye overall exposure could be brought down a bit while protecting the darks above the feet.

Love the pose here and lots of detail, agree about softening the bg some and also adj. out the bright whites. Otherwise, great shot :wavey:

I think if you lowered the overall exposure a bit this would be excellent Walt. If you rework it from the raw that lowered exposure might also reduce the amount of noise in the image. :toast:
